Came here for some sushi and it hit the spot! The spicy tuna was fresh and the other 2 items were great as well. They do have a happy hour so I'll be back again to partake! There is street parking and they stay open late.
Have you tried Sakana Sushi Lounge yet? They're serving up some of the best seafood I've had in dtla. The uni burrata and steamed clams were delicious starters. I've never had steamed clams so smooth and buttery The lemon toro roll was super refreshing with the slices of lemon on top The assortment of sashimi was great and the fish was really fresh From the variety of food to the fancy ambiance, this place is perfect for date nights and hangouts Pro tip: the restaurant has its own parking lot and it's only $5!
From the moment we walked into Sakana in downtown Los Angeles, we were instantly impressed by the speed at which we were seated and the warm, above-and-beyond hospitality of the staff. The ambiance was a perfect blend of chic and inviting, making it clear that we were in for a memorable dining experience. We began our culinary journey with the perfectly seared scallops and fresh edamame, setting the stage for what was to come. The fish was astonishingly fresh, each piece melting in our mouths with flavors that transported us to the heart of Japan. The Hot Night Roll was a delightful explosion of spice and savor, while the Lemon Toro Roll offered a refreshing and sophisticated twist with its citrusy notes. The Albacore with crispy onions was a revelation - the combination of tender fish and crunchy onions was simply divine. Every bite was a testament to the chef's mastery and the high-quality ingredients used. The vibe at Sakana is unmatched, with an atmosphere that's both relaxed and upscale, making it the perfect spot for a night out or a special occasion. By the end of the evening, we felt like we had been on a culinary adventure, one that Anthony Bourdain himself would have been proud to partake in. Sakana has truly earned its place among the top sushi spots in Los Angeles, delivering an experience that's as extraordinary as it is unforgettable. Will be returning and dining again. They also have a dope happy hour that starts at 10pm, so we love a nice late drink. S/o to the team making this dream come true.
Every dish was 10/10 except the calamari. It was extremely overcooked & rubbery. Would definitely eat here again but would never order the calamari again. The sushi burrito was my favorite of the 4 rolls we ordered.
Wishing SALMON told me about @sakanadtla sooner! It's truthfully hard for me to find a sushi spot that I love, but Sakana definitely checks my boxes with their incredibly fresh sashimi and sushi, beautifully crafted Japanese-inspired dishes and cocktails, elegant interiors, and city views of DTLA from their outdoor patio. Literally every dish we ordered was a hit, with fresh, well-cut pieces of seafood and wagyu that were meticulously plated by the chefs and graciously served by their attentive waiters. If you're in the DTLA area, definitely ROLL on by to check out their exquisite sushi, as well as their incredible BOGO free happy hour deals from 5-7 PM and 10 PM-2 AM! I love that they have a reverse happy hour which is super long. I didn't partake because I'm not much of a wine person with my sushi. I started with a thyme mocktail which was great, if I had one thing they could do better, it would be to say what they put in their drinks. My friend and I shared the crispy tuna appetizer which was fantastic. We tried a Philadelphia roll, the sushi burrito roll, which was my favorite, and the hot night roll. It was way too much food and we had to bring back a whole rolls worth, so probably you only need 2 rolls for 2 people. Liked the live music, and it was super full at 10 PM on a Friday night.
I can't get over how amazing the sashimi and nigiri were. The sashimi slices were so thick and buttery, every bite was heavenly. The sashimi appetizer was one of my favorite dishes since it came with salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. They were also very fresh and tender. The same goes for all the nigiri we ordered: scallop, sweet shrimp, yellowtail, akamutsu, and salmon belly. The rice-to-fish ratio was incredibly generous and the cuts of sashimi were very fresh. We also ordered a rainbow roll which was presented beautifully with fresh, thick cuts of an assortment of sashimi on a California roll. I can't recommend this place enough since it has great food, beautiful interior design, and great service too. There's a valet parking in the back I believe but I opted for street parking a couple blocks down the street.
Food was great! The sushi was super fresh and the pieces were resonable as well. It's a cozy late night romantic spot in downtown la with a great happy hour. My cocktail was delicious, I believe it was Sakura dream :) service was also very friendly and quick! Worth checking out
Such a beautiful and fancy Sushi restaurant perfect place for a date night. There's a DJ playing music too so the vibes were emasculate! The sushi itself is so delicious. I ordered a bunch of rolls and each one was so good. I actually really enjoyed their devil eggs too! Super tasty.
